Team – Olmstead’s H.O.P.E

RESCUE DOES NOT MEAN DAMAGED.

It means they have been let down by Humans.

In Istanbul, many street heroes and selfless individuals are working constantly to help the street animals. It’s a full-time job without leave. There are so many people I would love to write about; it would break your heart. We cannot help everyone, but our intentions stretch us beyond our limits in every way. They deserve and need serious support, the forgotten ones no one can see. Our thanks to God that they exist.

Meet Some of the Team♡

♡Elizabeth

From Olmstead’s rescue in The Bronx, NYC, to Istanbul, I am fully dedicated to working at Olmstead’s H.O.P.E., providing vacation stays for kitties and volunteering in rescue and street work. I have dedicated my life and energy full-time to saving lives. In each country, the suffering continues on a very large scale. It’s emotionally destructive, with too much pain in our hearts, but we must be their voice and continue trying to make a difference one by one. I love the innocent souls, and I will never understand inflicted suffering or chosen ignorance. Please, dear people, if you can, support our project wherever possible.

♡Egemen

Meet Egemen, a great supporter of Olmstead’s H.O.P.E. for a while, who has since become a very valuable volunteer with us. We thank you for your commitment and hard work. Egemen is always ready to reach out, even after flying his passengers around the world. Our very own captain goes above and beyond to help with rescues, animals in crisis, translations, and adoptions, all while caring for his own family and cats. We are very blessed. Thank you.

♡Saziye

Şaziye is our number one lady in Arnavutköy Istanbul. A street hero and mum to all the suffering and abandoned animals. We live in the village with the animals. But it is impossible to keep a cat and a dog at home under Istanbul conditions until my middle son came with a cat, then I started feeding them all on the street. I’ve been feeding as much as I can for about 7 years. We then got a garden, thank goodness. The number of cats and dogs increased there, I tried to support the souls in the roadside and forest areas while. If anyone is sick, I try to help them in their treatment with the support I get from my own means. Its a struggle every day, we never have enough money, so much suffering. We keep going.

♡ Carmen & Kate

Carmen is Olmstead’s fairy Godmother. She rescued our boy originally on Olmstead’s Avenue in the Bronx. Having lots of rescues herself, she and Kate, Olmstead’s other mommy, are constantly working to improve and save lives, rehoming and changing lives as street heroes. Kate, on her travels, is constantly looking out for animals in need, touching lives wherever she goes. Every day is a huge struggle, with so many in need and never enough to go around, but our two superheroes give so much. Please support our Bronx project for Olmstead’s H.O.P.E.

♡ Travelling Brie-Animal Angel

I met Brie when she traveled across Istanbul on a bus with a sick cat, Teddy. Then Brie came to Olmstead’s H.O.P.E. at a time when I had to leave Istanbul due to my visa issues. We had one of the worst experiences, absolutely heartbreaking. We had taken into our care beautiful Ponçik, he was a hit and run victim and was paralysed. Little angel needed so much care and hospital visits, he had major surgery and everything was full on.Without Brie my heart would be so much worse. It was a very tough time. She kept with the help of Şaziye and Işil everything going. Precious Ponçik passed away, he had the best care and love ever. We’ll, never forget this. Brie also is a flight volunteer taking cats to their new homes, she is experienced and the best animal angel we know. We thank you beyond words.

♡ Bolluca Dr’s

Our truly compassionate and kind doctors at Bolluca Animal Clinic have and continue to support Olmstead’s H.O.P.E. in many ways. They constantly send WhatsApp messages and videos about our patients, and they donated part of the surgery for Sonny Boy, a dog-attack street kitty, and helped us financially. We receive over-the-top assistance with rescues when needed, and they are available for urgent care any day or time. It was my sixth clinic visit to find them. Please take your pets or any street rescue here; they will go above and beyond at discounted prices. We thank you.

♡Ayşe

Works @ Olmsteads H.O.P.E a few hours a week and does far more than we could expect. She has lived in the village for 17 years. She is our eyes and ears, feeding the street animals whatever she has. With so many animals constantly coming and going, many are born in terrible conditions and are diseased. Ayşe will let us know and help us locate those in need. She is our stand-in if I am elsewhere during an emergency. Our number one trusted individual, she shines as a light for Olmsteads H.O.P.E. Every village needs an Ayşe. Please support Ayşe with food supplies if you can, helping her to aid our furry street kids in desperate need.

Killer on the streets #FipVirus

With gratitude and love from Apollo Fudge Cake to Dr. Serdar, our FIP angel. Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a viral disease caused by a mutated form of Feline Coronavirus (not the same as the human one). Many street cats are severely affected by this, with no chance of survival if they’re not rescued and start treatment. It’s just horrific, the suffering they endure, and it’s easily transmitted. The treatment is not available in Turkey and it’s so expensive.

Our own FIP warrior, Apollo, was misdiagnosed in the beginning. He arrived in August 2022, a tiny sick baby that has fought every day since then almost to stay alive with daily injections given. After two relapses, we were losing him. Then, we were introduced to EIDD capsules.

That’s where the hope and hearts start to shine. Fudge Cake has Neurological FIP. It affects mobility, eyesight; he was paralyzed, frozen like a statue with no movement whatsoever. After eleven days, there was an improvement. We massage him, do physio, take him outside on the grass to feel the warmth; it really helps. It could take up to a year, as 4 out of 1000 cases have serum in the brain; this is what our baby has. Truly, we have seen miracles with EIDD. Fudge Cake is like a spitfire on his arms, trying to walk, eating like a lion, so brave, and he is getting better. No one can afford this treatment if it’s more than a month or so. Not just street cats get FIP; any cats can perish from this terrible virus.

With donations, we can help more street cats, stop the misery, give them life not a terrible death. Apollo Fudge Cake #fipfund, we work with Dr. Serdar. We will contribute if you want to sponsor a street cat with FIP. Treatment lasts normally 45-90 days at a cost of approximately $135-€125 or £108 per month. EIDD is not a drug; it’s an alternative complementary treatment. It has many antiviral agents, many herbal supports, essential vitamins.

We thank you so much. Please help us to change a life and stop the suffering. Please reach out if you’re in need of guidance.
